Consider Greek Conference 2012

So hopping in a car and heading to a hotel on a random weekend in February may not sound like the best use of your time.  However, Greek Conference is more than a random weekend. It’s an event that can shape the rest of your college experience as well as those years after school sometimes referred to as “real life.”  To help enumerate the awesomeness that is Greek Conference, we’ve put together a list of ten reasons to consider attending GC 2012. Like what you see? Share it with a friend. Have a suggestion for the list? Leave a comment below.

1. You’re not the only one

Sometimes it may seem like you are the only person in your fraternity or sorority who thinks about issues of faith or wakes up on Sunday to head to Church or makes time to pray but at Greek Conference you are not the only one. You’ll be joined by hundreds of Greeks from across the country who are looking to combine their Greek identity with identity in Christ.

2. The NY Times thought it was cool

At the 2011 Greek Conference in Indianapolis, the NY Times decided to send a writer and photographer to see what was bringing several hundred Greeks together for a weekend to talk about God. Turns out they had a pretty good time. Check it out for yourself.

3. It’s a great deal

When you consider all that is included in the cost, it’s a pretty incredible deal for a weekend. You’re getting two nights in a luxury hotel, a fantastic banquet on Saturday night, great resources and content from Greek InterVarsity staff and a weekend experience unlike any other. Sure, it’s a bit more expensive than some fast food and a round of…bowling…but you are getting an incredible deal for a one-of-a-kind event.

4. By Greeks. For Greeks.

Greek Conference is a conference designed by Greeks, carried out by Greeks and made specifically for Greeks. Our staff were members of fraternities and sororities. Our speakers have been through the college experience. We’ll talk about the stuff that is actually relevant to life in the Greek system and you’ll get to experience a community of Greeks who are coming from where you’re at.

5. The dance party is legit

Enough said.

6. It’s a great way to connect with your chapter

At Greek Conference you are given space to connect with members from your house on a deeper level. It’s a great opportunity to be able to have time to be real with your brothers and sisters and share about the deeper things you are dealing with in your life on campus.

7. Where else can you find this?

Greek Conference is fairly unique in that it is one of the few conferences to bring together Greek life & God for an entire weekend. From Greek-specific bible studies to staff whose primary job is fraternity & sorority ministry, this is a unique conference with a very specific focus: helping Greeks to know God, grow in their faith and learn how to live it out in their chapter.

8. Great resources

At the conference you’ll have a chance to check out the latest and greatest resources from Greek InterVarsity including House Ministry Guides, Quiet-Time Resources, Greek-specific Bible studies and much more. You’ll also be able to purchase InterVarsity Press books at a special conference discounted rate!

9. It’s an open invitation

All Greeks from all chapters on all campuses are welcome. This is a Conference by Greek and for Greeks and we welcome any and all students to attend. Whatever your faith background, wherever you stand on hot-button issues and whether you wear your boat shoes with socks or without, you are welcome at Greek Conference 2012!

10. Because staying home is overrated

You’ll have plenty of weekends to hang out on campus, hit the usual spots and see the usual scenes. This is a weekend to break the trend and try an experience outside the norm.
